We recently had the honor of coordinating a celebration of life in honor of an amazing lady. Our goal is to help families in this difficult time by taking the stress off of them and creating an event that will truly reflect the life of the loved one lost. Here are a few celebration of life ideas that we hope will inspire others to really dig deep and add the details that will make their loved one’s memorial reception or celebration of life a special time to reflect on their lives and highlight happy memories.
Kathryn had a love for dragonflies so we added them in where we could without “over doing” it. We created the gold organza seed bags with wildflower seeds which were some of her favorites. We added personalized dragonfly tags with her name and dates on them. Her favorite colors were light blue and yellow so we chose some beautiful linens in that color palate from Linen Savvy. Every table had double sided frames with a different photo of Kathryn and a list of “fun facts” about her on the opposite side. Our LifeStory Occasions staff created the centerpieces with the yellow and white roses in gold dipped milk bottle vases. We hired American Classic Catering to handle our delicious food display containing many of Kathryn’s favorite foods. It was a lovely outdoor setting with an interesting shape so we used the space as best as we could adding hurricane candles along the ledge while leaving plenty of seating and room to move around freely for the guests.
Inside we created a memorial display with several photos, her guitar, and art pieces that she had painted as well as a quilt she had made. One of my favorite touches was the memory tree. Guests were instructed with a framed sign to write their favorite memory of Kathryn and then hang it on the tree. The memory tags with be a nice keepsake for her immediate family.
